Data center interconnections are cost-sensitive. We propose and demonstrate a cost-effective C-band intensity modulation direct detection (IM/DD) transmitter for extended range (ER) inter-datacenter interconnects utilizing only a 2-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC).
